Transferring home

Can I apply to transfer from one council property to another or from my Housing Association property to another?

Yes, as long as you have lived in the property for at least 12 months. You need to apply for a property by registering with the Find a Home services team at Homes for Bolton.
 
You may then express interest in properties advertised through the Find a Home Service or begin your search for someone with whom you wish to mutually exchange properties.
 
Once your expression has been successful or you have found someone to exchange with you will be contacted by your Housing Management Officer who will arrange a full property inspection of your current home.

Property inspection

The visit is carried out to ensure that your property and garden have been maintained to the standard detailed in your tenancy agreement.
 
This inspection will include sections relating to: Repairs, improvements and alterations and Moving to another property.
 
If your tenancy agreement has not been adhered to you will not be allowed to move and you will lose the property you expressed interest in.
